About the 11X Method

I don't look for 1 leader. I build 11.

I'm Gus González, a performance coach for footballers and teams. I played football at semi-professional level until a knee injury ended my playing career. Losing the game forced me to look at it from the outside, and the question I kept coming back to was simple: why do some groups of talented players become teams, and others never do?

I spent the next years finding out in a different arena. I worked as a team coach with high-performance entrepreneurial teams in Spain, India and South Korea, alongside a Master's in Business Coaching and Organizational Leadership. Different countries, different cultures, the same pattern: talent sets the ceiling, but how a group handles leadership, trust and ego decides how close it gets to it.

What the 11X Method is

The 11X Method brings that experience back to football. Its core idea is distributed leadership: instead of relying on one captain or one star, you develop leadership in all eleven. It is organised in five pillars:

  1. Self-Leadership: players who own their effort, mood and preparation.
  2. Culture & Trust: shared standards and the safety to take risks.
  3. Team Dynamics: understanding the stages every group goes through.
  4. Ego & Accountability: confidence that serves the team, standards that apply to everyone.
  5. Roles & Belonging: every player knows their place and that it matters.
